How to Beat Monday Blues: Tech Style

It is monday and as a result some of us are crying: Monday Blues.

I wish I knew where the ‘Monday Blues’ idea came from.

But from what I have read:   Monday Blues was adapted by a certain Travel company as part of a publicity campaign , to be the most depressing day of the year.

Well, as has everything else in this world, It has been abused. It was meant to be just the one day in a year but now, It kinda does the rounds and becomes 52 days in a year!

And there are so many people that have tried to help out: You  have inventions of ‘Monday blues joke’ engineered to make one’s Monday better.

These include:  This employee is depriving a village somewhere of an idiot.

If you look like your passport picture, you probably needed the weekend trip.

And there are also people that get out of their way to help you beat the Monday Blues: They have free advice on how to beat the blues: they include:

Wear your best, Give yourself a treat,[ladies know what I am talking about], Make your Monday Hater club! [If you're really down, call up a friend — in all probability, he/she might be equally blue and would love to hear from you] Really?

There is also things like Turn up the music, Choose to feel happy, take breaks [I don't know how many], and Get an early start to the day: Like that actually helps. [I know people who as long as they are up early are grumpy all day.]

Anyway: after going through all this reading: I thought to myself. We have these tech tools that we can use as human beings but also ‘Ugandans’. So here goes:

Let us try and figure this out together:

Mobile Phone:

Africa is blessed by one of the greatest innovations of time ever. Mobile money. Giving is sharing. We all know that it is more blessed to give than to receive.
And I hope that the majority of us are registered for Mobile Money; So how about you share some of what you have. The month just got started so there are ‘no holes’ in our pockets yet [or phones in this case]
So ‘Sambaza’ someone you know needs it, some airtime or pocket money or lunch money. And you will see the difference it makes. “Sharing is Loving” That will definitely put a smile on their face and yours too. Try it:

Or better still give someone a call. Someone that you have taken awhile without hearing from. Call and or text someone, chat for a while. Call your mother and or father : tell them how much they mean to you:
What I am trying to say is make use of your mobile phone.

Music Gadgets:

We all have these gadgets: IPods, MP3 players, CD Walkman players and the real Walkman players:[ those last 2 still exist right]. Listen to some music. It has a way of getting to lift your soul.
Being the Introvert that I am, I would maybe settle for John Denver’s Take me-Country Roads; and if I were you, I would stay away from Celine Dion: especially if your weekend was not ‘right’
But I would highly recommend Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds be on your playlist.

Computers:

Give your computer, its’ much needed spring cleaning. Get some polish onto it, and let it look as good as new. It takes time to do that, and before you know it, the dreaded Monday will be over.
So Get the cotton swabs, foam swabs, the portable vacuum [or blow-dryer] and remove dust dirt, bacteria from your computer. I am sure it needs it. Anything for Monday, right?
You do not have to get into the : Palm Pilot Cleaning or SuperDisk / LS120 cleaning. Keep it simple.

Social Media:

Get to take part in sensible convearstions, tweeting, facebook-ing and google plus-ing people that will enrich you. Then there, your time will not be wasted. You will be making yourself better and also helping
in building the nation. Some of our thoughts when shared do make this world a better place. Get to know what is going on around town, any events that you could be interested in and then join friends and or Hang out joints on Google+ or tweeps later on in the day to end your Monday. Now that should not be hard should it…

Which reminds me: Today 6th February 2012: Ugandans: #Momokla beckons. Go learn something. Now that is something to look forward to.
